Creativity Showcase: Bermagui Art & Craft Exhibition

The Bermagui Country Club Auditorium is set to welcome the Art & Craft Exhibition from Thursday 8 January to Sunday 11 January. A celebration of local artistry and craftsmanship, the exhibition invites artists, makers, families, and visitors to come together and enjoy a vibrant mix of handmade works from across the region.

The four-day event promises something for everyone, from fine art and mosaics to woodwork, jewellery, weaving, pottery, spinning, needlework, and more. Some pieces will be available for purchase, depending on the artist.

A showcase of Bermagui’s creative heart

For many years, the Art & Craft Exhibition was a cherished feature of Bermagui’s creative calendar, providing a warm and welcoming platform for local artists to showcase their work. Organisers are excited to see the event return to the Bermagui Country Club Auditorium in 2026.

Exhibition Coordinator Helen Morris says the exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate local talent while reconnecting the community with the club’s creative spaces.

“We hope visitors enjoy this exhibition, which showcases the club workshop areas and beyond. The exhibition is very diverse, and maybe you’ll find that special something that catches your eye.”

 — Helen Morris, Exhibition Coordinator

What many visitors may not realise is that downstairs at Bermagui Country Club sits a creative hub, with two studios and social spaces where local artists gather each week. These studios host regular groups for:

  • Art
  • Mosaics
  • Pottery
  • Sewing
  • Needlework and Crafts
  • A dedicated knitting group

The exhibition offers the perfect opportunity for the community to discover these studio groups and learn more about creative activities available locally.

“We live in such a creative area. There are so many artists here, and this gives everyone a chance to see what’s on offer and get involved.”

– Helen Morris, Exhibition Coordinator

A diverse and welcoming display of work

Final exhibitor numbers will be confirmed closer to the event, but the exhibition will feature an eclectic mix of artwork from both long-time studio members and artists from the wider community.

Several exhibiting artists are actively involved in the Bermagui Country Club’s creative studios, contributing regularly to the groups that meet there, including:

  • Betty Delamare: Needlework and Crafts
  • Jenny Halliday: Art
  • Lyn Moore: Mosaics
  • Kath Canning: Pottery
  • Janinka Frankie: Knitting
  • Jill Osgood: Spinning - including a spinning demonstration on opening night (Thursday 8 January)

Introducing “Seaside Delight”

A vibrant addition for 2026 is Seaside Delight, a children’s showcase created in partnership with Bermagui Public School. Students have been invited to submit artworks inspired by Bermagui’s coastline, giving young creators the chance to exhibit their work alongside local artists.

The ‘People’s Choice Award’, the only award of the exhibition, will be dedicated exclusively to Seaside Delight, offering a fun way to celebrate for young artists and their families. The school has warmly embraced the initiative, promoting it through its classroom networks.

Supporting artists, giving back, and getting involved

The Art & Craft Exhibition reflects Bermagui Country Club’s commitment to supporting creativity and providing accessible opportunities for artists of all ages. The event also gives back to the wider community, with proceeds shared between:

  • 50% to Can Assist, a well-respected volunteer-run cancer support organisation.
  • 50% to Bermagui Country Club’s art studios and creative programs.

With an exciting mix of artworks, engaging demonstrations, welcoming studio displays, and a bright new children’s showcase, this year’s exhibition promises to be a vibrant and inspiring start to the new year.
